The TVCC Beef Cattle Show Team was involved in the Open Charolais Cattle division of the show during the first weekend in March.
"The students worked very-hard to win the Good Herdsman Award. The competitors have to keep their area perfectly clean at all times and their cattle perfectly groomed, have a nice looking display and demonstrate courtesy to all who come by," said show team sponsor Marc Robinson.
While considering TVCC for the award, Robinson said members of the judging committee stopped by the college's stalls several times during the livestock show to grade the students on a variety of factors, including:
Orderliness and cleanliness of exhibit, stalls, and animals;
Promptness in cleaning animal stalls as well as each individual animal;
Systematic and neat arrangement of equipment, feed and forage;
Personal appearance of herdsmen and helpers'; and,
Cooperation with other exhibitors and exhibition of good sportsmanship.
"The team received numerous compliments as to their professionalism and on how wrell the cattle looked. This year's team was just as dedicated to winning the Charolais Good Herdsman award as former teams and they did," said Robinson.
