Julius Rogers

Services for Julius "Bo" Hairy Rogers, 77, of Wills Point are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Edgewood with Rev. Ray Wren officiating. Services are under the direction of Hiett's Ly-Brand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Family visitation is set for 6-8 p.m. Friday. April 8, 2011.

Rogers was born Feb. 14, 1934, in Wills Point to Octavia Dunn and Cleveland Rogers and died April 1,2011.

He married Janis Johnson in 1961. and the couple had four children.

A lifelong Wills Point resident, Bo was the lead pressman for Van Zandt Newspapers, L.L.C., which included the printing of The Monitor, Lake Area Leader, Discover Cedar Creek Lake, The Malakoff News, The Kerens Tribune, Wills Point Chronicle, Canton Herald, Van Banner, Van Zandt News, The Quinlan-Tawakoni News, East Texas Homes and Farms and Canton Guide for 40 years before becoming ill.

He also worked part-time at the American National Bank in Wills Point and was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Wills Point.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ima-Lyles and brother Johnny B. "JB" Rogers.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Janis Rogers of Wills Point; children Shannon McClelland of Edgewood, Clevelon Rogers and wife Colita of Elmo, Bevaughn Rogers and wife Tera, and Randa Rogers, both of Wills Point; sisters Shirley McKinney and Maxine Wynne, both of California, Virgina Stafford of Dallas, Edith Rogers Shaw and husband Jack, and Evelyn Sanders, both of Wills Point; brothers Oscar and Johnny R. Rogers, both of Wills Point and Otis Tucker and wife Sharon of Dallas; longtime companion Shirley Holland of Terrell and her children Howard Holland of Terrell and Beaunka (Shon) Holland of Garland; grandchildren Tiffany, Kevin and Brittany McClelland, Marya Bradley and husband Jen-el, Ja'Miehael Palmer and wife Rachelle; C.J., Ja'Macia, Yvonne, B.J., Quinshan, Shaquilla, Tamia, Bryon, and Sherrain Rogers, Exxavier McCoy, Quincey, Lewis Venicia, and Zennovya Battles; seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
