TVCC Ag Club brings home awards

CopyATHENS - Trinity Valley Community College Ag Club members attended the 2011 Texas Junior College Agriculture Association Convention in Alpine earlier this month and captured six awards.
TVCC was represented at the event, hosted by Sul Ross State University, by Samantha Kinzie, Holly Meroney, Jessica Price, Ryan Patton and Marc Robinson, the college's instructor of agriculture and ranch management.
The competition segment of the convention was held on Thursday. Meroney placed first in the Agricultural Economics Quiz and first in the Entomology Quiz. Patton placed third in the Agronomy Quiz and third in the Entomology Quiz. Kinzie and Price competed in the Public Relations contest and placed second. Price also prepared a scrapbook that placed fourth overall. In addition to conducting TOCAA business, students' from junior colleges across the state met at Kokernot Lodge, located
near the SRSU main campus. The lodge was built near a spring that was mapped by a Spanish explorer in 1684 as an important watering hole. Students and faculty representatives also enjoyed a tour of Fort Davis, one of the best-preserved 19th century forts in the country.
Robinson said TVCC students had a wonderful experience and look forward to attending the 2012 convention, which will be held in Lubbock at Texas Tech University.
