Galen Ricks, 85

Galen W. Ricks, 85, of 517 Linville St., died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home,

Francesville.

Born Jan. 3, 1924, in Francesville, his parents were the late Lester and Loretta Butcher Ricks.

Mr. Ricks served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired farmer and a member of Francesville United Methodist Church. He had been a member of Francesville American Legion for 59 years and was a past commander.

He enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Fla.

His first marriage was to Helen M. Selby on Nov. 16, 1947, in Boswell. She died Aug. 5, 1986. On March 18, 1989, he married Lola M. Miller in Monon, and she Survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Carol J. Ricks-McCall of Speedway; four sons, John A. Ricks of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Glen W. Ricks of Monon, William D. Ricks (wife: Janet) of Francesville and David L. Ricks (wife: Diana) of Greenfield; and two sisters, June Stath (husband: Charles) of Rensselaer and JoAnn Werner (husband: Paul) of Medaryville.
