Daryl Moum

Funeral services for Daryl Mourn, age 78 of Bottineau, were held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Officiating at the service was Desireex Uhrich. Elaine Freeman was the organist. Casket bearers were Curt Mourn, Barry Mourn, Rick Mourn, Scott Mourn, Kevin Svingen, Jeff Moum, Jason Mourn and Mark Brandt. Honorary Casket bearers were all of Daryl's grandchildren. Burial was at the Oak Creek Cemetery in Bottineau.

Daryl Moum, a son of Conrad and Dagny (Erickson) Moum, was born on September 9, 1930 near Landa, ND. He was reared there and later graduated from Kramer High School in 1948. Following the completion of his formal education, Daryl worked building REA lines and also as an electrician assistant. On September 18, 1955, he married Jane Stevenson at Bottineau. They purchased a farm near Westhope, where they raised sheep, cattle and small grains. Daryl also worked in the oil fields. Due to a lack of water, they purchased and moved to a farm in Cordelia Township in 1962, where they also raised sheep, cattle and farmed small grains.

Daryl was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bottineau where he served on the church council. He also served on the Cordelia Township Board, FmHA Board, Farmers Union Board and the Bottineau Farmers Elevator Board. He was also president of the Bottineau Trail Riders, a 4-H leader for 13 years and received the FFA Honorary Chapter Award. He enjoyed horseback riding, snow-mobiling and hunting.

Daryl passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at a Minot hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of Bottineau; children, Warren of Lake Metigoshe, Nancy and her husband, Robert Hall of Sterling, CO, Julie and her husband, Lloyd Klebe of Willow City, and Brent and his wife, Anne of Bottineau; 7 grandchildren, Jordan Hall, Taylor Hall, Nathan Hall, Annie Klebe, Brenden Klebe, Brody Moum and Kutter Moum; Brother, Leland Moum and his wife, Jan of Minot and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven; brother, Arlin Moum and sister, Bette Brandt.

Arrangements were with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
