Lawrence J.C. Odland, 94, Minot, died Wednesday, September 01, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Lawrence Johannes Cornelius Odland was born on December 15, 1915, to John and Lucy (Thompson) Odland on a farm near Simcoe, ND. He grew up on the family farm in Hen-drickson Township. Lawrence served during World War II in the United States Army Air Force in California and married Alice Nelson of Denbigh, ND, on June 24, 1942, in California while in the military. They raised their four sons in Minot, ND. His employment consisted of one year at Westlie Motors, thirteen years at Westland Oil Company, twenty-five years in Civil Service with the United States Air Force at Minot Air Force Base, and three years at First Lutheran Church of Minot. He retired in 1985. He was active in Scouting, volunteer work through First Lutheran Church, driving the train in Roosevelt Park, recreational vehicle camping, and enjoyed other recreational time playing golf and pool with friends as well as hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. In 2005, he was presented with an Honorary High School Diploma from Velva High School. He was an awesome, loving family leader. His guidance, love and influence will be greatly missed. He died on September 1, 2010, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Alice (Nelson) Odland; his father John Odland; his mothers Lucy (Thompson) Odland and Otilie (Berg) Odland; his sister Julia Larsen; and two brothers, Selmer (Sam) Odland and Martin Odland. He is survived by a brother, IngvaldOdland; four sons: Lyle (Evie) Odland, Leslie (Vicki) Odland, Loren (Sandy) Odland, Lynn (Marilyn) Odland; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service were held Sunday, September 5, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Stenkjaer Cemetery Fund or First Lutheran Church.
