Mary Ann Boddie

June 18, 1941 - Aug. 20, 2009 Well Known and Cherished Person

Mary Ann Boddie passed away on Thursday, Aug. 20. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 20 at New Hope Baptist Church in Manchester with Rev. J.D. Walker officiating.

Ms. Boddie, the daughter of Flora Boddie and the late Ben Boddie, was born on June 18, 1941 in Meriwether County. She went to work at the Veneer Plant in Manchester at an early age. She later went to work at the Nabisco Plant in Woodbury.

"Poor Thang" as she was known around Manchester was a well known and cherished person. Everywhere she went she made a friend or adopted her a child or grandchild, a sister, or a brother.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving, caring and devoted mother, Mrs. Flora Boddie, Manchester; two sisters-in-law, Chrystal Boddie, Warm Springs and Barbara Boddie, Flint, Michigan; a granddaughter, Azha Boddie, Manchester; two aunts, Eva and Emma Howe, both of Manchester; a special and loving cousin, Margaret Durham, Atlantic City, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom will miss her dearly.

A son preceded her in death, Mr. Vincent Boddie. She also had two brothers to precede her in death, Joe Lee and Jasper Boddie.

Anderson & Marshal Funeral Home in Manchester was in charge of arrangements.
