Zane Culbertson

Zane Leroy Culbertson, 53, died Aug. 26, 2009 in a logging accident.

He was born March 28, 1956 in Henderson, Nev., to Jerry Eugene Burger and Claire "Rosanne" Grave, the eldest of seven children, and was adopted by Kenneth Ray Culbertson.

Mr. Culbertson grew up in Sweet Home and lived in Salem for most of his life. Over the past two years he lived in Bend, where he was employed as a log truck driver with B & S logging out of Prineville. He was an auto technician, who had a passion and zeal for life, especially cars and hot rods, and those closest to him would say he worked hard and played hard.

Mr. Culbertson enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as hiking, hunting, snow and water skiing. He also enjoyed country dancing and barbecues with, family and friends.

He loved the Lord, his family and his friends.

Mr. Culbertson is survived by his loving wife of two years, RoxAnn (Roxy); mother Rosanne; son Patrick; daughter Courtney Michelle; stepsons John, Tim and Brian; brothers Aaron Culbertson, Phillip Culbertson, Kevin Burger, Russell Burger and Brian Burger; sisters Leah Culbertson and Lisa Culbertson; and two grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by "man's best friend" and loyal companion of 10 years, Bandit.

A memorial service was held Sept. 1 at the River Center in Lebanon.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
