(STILLWATER, OK)-The Sheerar Museum of Stillwater History is once again open to the public after being closed for the month of August in order to prepare for upcoming exhibits.

While the Museum was closed, staff members were hard at work behind closed doors in preparation for two upcoming exhibits "Museums Collect the Strangest Things" and "Inspired by Red & Green", by painting walls, constructing new storage areas, and setting up the items to be showcased. Doors re-opened on Tuesday, September 1st, although exhibit preparation and storage construction continues.

"We are really looking forward to showing the public what it is that the Museum does for the community," Sarah McBride, Museum Registrar, said.

Both exhibits will open to the public beginning October 1st. "Museums Collect the Strangest Things" will feature some of the most interesting, unique and "strange" things within the Museum's collection. The exhibit is intended to educate visitors on why museums collect what they do. "Inspired by Red & Green" is a traveling exhibit created, by the American Quilt Study Group. It includes studies of historic quilts, created by members of the AQSG.

The Museum is open to the public Tuesday thru Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, and group tours can be scheduled by contacting the Museum at 405-377-0395 or e-mail at thesheera rmusuem(r) sbcglobal.net.
