FIRTH - West Side won 48-6 against the Firth Cougars on Friday night, as they kicked off their new season.

The Pirates came out strong with the preparation to destroy their opponent, since they have been practicing for a solid three weeks.

Head coach Tyson Moser commented, "I believe spending this time practicing and mainly focusing on efforts to get better individually would then later develop our abilities to perform as a team."

The West Side team did just that in the game. Every team member contributed to this triumph with their individual efforts and that panned out to a remarkable team feat.

Moser remarked about one of the leading factors that helped the team prevail Friday night, "The scout team. They gave us a good look."

The team played a great four-quarter game and never seemed to give up. One of the team captains, Mitchell Bowles, stated, "We all played really well. Everyone worked hard, and we accomplished most of our goals."

They plan on continuing these goals and climb higher and higher each week.

Now with one game behind them, they look to Ririe this Friday with the same eye as Firth. Things are looking very hopeful for the Pirates this fall.
