1918-2010 Vater, wir lieben dich.

Henry Merrill Schumann, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather peacefully entered the presence of our Heavenly Father and into the arms of his parents on Sept. 7, 2010, at the age of 92.

Henry was born in Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah, on March 8, 1918, to Ludwig Christian George Schumann and Louise Marie Emma Reinhardt Schumann.

Henry was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a successful full time LDS mission in the Western States Mission (Colorado) from November 1940 to November 1942. Shortly after his mission Henry served honorably in the United States Army from Jan. 31, 1944, to May 21, 1946, in the 329 Ordnance Company.

Henry married and was sealed to his beloved eternal companion, June LaPriel Lund, on May 22, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Henry was a hard working farmer. He worked many years on various family farms. Henry raised his family in Blue Creek, Utah, (dry farm) and in Lewis-ton, Utah (dairy farm).

Henry held many LDS church callings, including proselyting and temple missions. He was a great father and grandfather and exhibited extraordinary kindness and patience to all with whom he came in contact with. His love, kindness, even temperament and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sharing it with his family.

Henry is survived by his loving and devoted wife, June LaPriel, and their 10 children: Danna May Montgomery (Gene), Kayleen Hunsaker (Dennis),

Edamarie Walker (Perry), Denice Weather-spoon (Dave), Darl Schumann (Sherri), El-Ray Schumann (Christy), Joseph Schumann (Tracey), Karla Torres (Ariel), Caralee Place (W.O.), and Lorenzo Schumann (Michele). He has been blessed with 36 loving and adoring grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Irene Schumann Hunsaker, and a brother, George Schumann (Susy).

Vater, bis wir uns wiedersehen (Until we meet again).

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 11, in the Lewiston 1st Ward Chapel in Lewiston. Friends called Friday evening at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield and Saturday at the church prior to services. Interment was in the Logan City Cemetery.

The Schumann family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who have cared for and helped Henry during his last days, especially PrimRose Home Health Care and Hospice. Their kindness and care is deeply appreciated.
