Since Sept. 1,235 positive Influenza A results have been reported from several healthcare facilities throughout Grant County, with 80 positive tests reported between Sept. 27 and Oct. 3.

While many illnesses have been mild, several individuals have been hospitalized. Five school districts in Grant County have reported higher than usual influenza-like illness rates.

"This is a indicator of what is going on in our community," said Peggy Grigg, administrator for the Grant County Health District. "We know there are many more cases of influenza in our community."

Grant County Health District expects to receive the first small shipment of HINI vaccine into the community this next week.

Quincy Community Health Center, Quincy Valley Medical Center, Grant County Emergency Management and Grant County Fire District No. 3 partnered with the Grant County Health District to sponsor a "drive-through" flu shot clinic on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Quincy Fire Station. A total of 158 vaccines were administered.

Quincy Community Health continues to have flu vaccine available for their patients and to the general public on a walk-in basis for $29 cash or check.
