On August 29th and 30th the 17th Annual Elks Youth Rodeo was held in Sheridan Wyoming. This is the biggest youth rodeo in the upper Mid West. There were 4 divisions, peewee (6 and under), juniors (7 to 9), intermediate (10 to 13), and seniors (14 to 17 years old). Each age division had around 40 contestants in it from many surrounding states, such as Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Utah. Boys and girls competed against each other in each of these age groups. A pickup and trailer was given to the overall high point contestant, saddles were given for the all around and, buckles for the runner up all around cowboy or cowgirl. competed in 5 different events over two days. They had to use 1 horse for all the events to qualify for prizes and money. On his horse, Tubs, he competed in flag race, goat tail tying, barrel race, pole bending, and ribbon race. Over the two day competition he was named runner up all around and won a nice Montana Silver Smiths buckle. Manche Nace, a 2nd grader in Roundup, also competed in juniors and was very competitive placing both days. She was the all around champion winning a saddle last year, as a six year old. We are very proud of these two yound competitors.
