Joe Ostermiller

Joe Ostermiller, 73, of Roundup passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings.

Joe was born on May 27, 1936, to John and Mary (Kruger) Ostermiller in Billings. He was originally from Shepherd, but resided most of his life in the Bull Mountains south of Roundup. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from Sept. 10, 1953 till Sept. 9, 1956, achieving a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Afterwards, he became self-employed owning a feed store in the Heights and eventually as an excavation contractor. He also enjoyed the honorable title of "mayor" of Tumbleweed.

His first marriage was to Nancy Ostermiller who later passed away from cancer. His second marriage was to Diane from whom he later separated. Finally he was able to reconnect with his high school sweetheart, Donna Meyers, whom he cherished.

Everyone's favorite uncle, he was loved by many and his sense of humor and character will be missed by all who knew him. He loved life, family, friends and his work.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Donna; son Joe Ostermiller; daughter Susan Ostermiller and Julie Replogle; stepdaughters Denise Tutt, Debbie Weigum and Diana Tipton; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Cremation and Funeral Gallery. A reception will follow services. Condolences may be sent to www.
