CopyAnne Z. Murphy, longtime resident of Roundup, died Aug. 11, 2009, in Orange Park, FL, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Bearcreek, daughter of Martin and Anna Re-setic Zagoric. Her father passed away in 1918; in 1922, her mother married John Prah and the family moved to Roundup, where Anne was educated and graduated high school.
In 1933, Anne married Patrick Murphy. They had two sons, Patrick and James. The family belonged to St. Benedict's Church, where Anne was involved in many activities. She was active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for over 20 years. She traveled extensively after her husband passed away, including several trips to (then) Yugoslavia to visit relatives and a trip to the Holy Land.
In 2005, Anne moved to Orange Park to be near her son Pat and grandchildren. She became an inspiration to everyone she met, but her heart remained in her beloved Montana.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; her sons, Jimmy and Pat; her granddaughters, Micki and Kimberly; great-grandson Josh; sister Hattie and brother Edward.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Prah Fickes of Laguna Niguel, CA; grandchildren Michael Murphy, and wife Lisa of Orange Park, James Murphy and wife Colleen of Fleming Island, FL; daughter-in-law Barb Murphy of Orange Park; sisters-in-law Elsie Murphy of Billings, Agnes Murphy Akers of Chandler, AZ, and Lavern Corgiat of Roundup; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. Interment of ashes will follow at the New Miners Cemetery. Wier Funeral Home of Roundup is in charge of arrangements.
