Ronnie Moorhead wins runoff for Stonewallk County Judge

Ronnie Moorhead won the tightly contested run off election for Stonewall County Judge narrowly edging out Roland Martin by a 6 vote margin. Moorhead gathered 313 votes to Martin's 307. Votes remain to be canvassed in a near future meeting of the Stonewall County Commissioner's Court and barring a recount or write in independent challenge in November, Stonewall County will swear in Moorhead in January 2011 as their next County Judge.

Moorhead credits the excellent voter turnout to the respect that registered voters had for each of the candidates in the race. "I've told people all along that Roland was a fine man and is to be commended for the work that he has been doing in the community for a

number of years. Either one of us was a good choice for the job." Both Martin and Moorhead have business and community service backgrounds with Moorhead having a military background serving as possibly a slight advantage.

With over 60% of Stonewall County's registered voters voicing their opinions in the tight race, Moorhead expressed his pleasure. "Both Roland and Renee Spikes should be congratulated for the fine races they ran in the County Judge's contest," said Moorhead. "We had a great turnout in the primary and the runoff and the more people show an interest in our government by voting and participating the better our government will become."

Moorhead is excited to begin his service to the county and the region as an important county leader and looks forward to bringing his vision into the political arena. Moorhead is expecting a

smooth transition with h term beginning as Judg McGough retires from offic
