"Texas is a place of unlimited possibilities, where people like Mary Kay Ash can start a company with a dream and the willingness to work hard," Gov. Perry said. "We are very proud of the countless Texas women who lead in business, government and academia."

Later, Gov. Perry spoke at a dinner hosted by Texas Instruments, another Texas-born company that has operations in China and around the world. The dinner was attended by business leaders from several Chinese industries, including telecommunications, computer science and aerospace.

The 2010 expo began May 1 and will run through Oct. 31, 2010, and is expected to draw 70 million visitors from more than 170 nations. A projected 5 million to 6 million visitors will tour the U.S.A. National Pavilion, which will build on the EXPO'S theme, "Better City, Better Life," by showcasing America as the place of opportunity, diversity, innovation, success, sustainability, health and nutrition, and technology.
