Man falls asleep behind the wheel

On August 25th at approximately 8:40 p.m. Oregon State Police responded to the report of a non-injury accident on Powers Highway near Gaylord Road. The crash occurred when the operator, 41 year-old Darwin Stacy Hiatt of Elkton, admittedly fell asleep while traveling from Powers to Myrtle Point. His 2000 Dodge Ram pickup went off the roadway and came to rest on a wire fence. The vehicle was removed by the owner.
