On August 27th at approximately 6:32 p.m. the east-bound 2002 Honda Accord, driven by 17 year-old Alisha Carle of Myrtle Point, crashed at the Highway 42/Powers Highway intersection when Carle lost control of the vehicle causing it to slide onto the left shoulder where it rolled onto its passenger side. Carle and passenger, Brianna Steen, 18 of Broadbent, were able to self extricate themselves from the vehicle but the other passenger, Chad Cotton, had to be removed from the wreckage by responding fire personnel. All three teens were transported to the Coquille Valley Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The 17 year old driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel and No Operator's License, as her passengers are under the age of 20 and not related to her.
