Three southern Nash County men were arrested last week on a variety of drug charges, Capt. Pat Joyner of the Nash County Sheriffs Office announced Monday.

On Aug. 27, Nash County Sheriffs Office deputies received information that Gregory Snodgrass would be delivering a controlled substance to a location on Pine Street in Bailey.

Deputies went to the location and waited for Snodgrass to arrive. When he showed up, deputies tried to detain him, but he ran.

Snodgrass was arrested following a brief foot chase.

Deputies found seven grams (0.24 ounces) of cocaine during the chase and arrest.

Snodgrass, 21, of Bullstone Road, was charged with one count of possession of cocaine with intent to sell and deliver, one count of maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance, and one count of resisting and delaying a public officer.

Snodgrass was jailed under a $35, 000 bond.

Also last Friday, sheriffs deputies arrested Travis Gray Lewis of Spring Hope for trafficking Oxycontin.

The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation. Capt. Joyner said additional arrests are likely as a result of the investigation.

Lewis, 20, of PleasantGrove Church Road, was charged with two counts of trafficking opium (Oxycontin pills) and one count of maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance.

Lewis was jailed under a $70, 000 secured bond.

Last Saturday, sheriffs deputies received information that Timothy Brad Watson of Bailey would be traveling in the area of Pace Road in a gray Mazda truck and that he would be in possession of prescription pills.

Deputies located and stopped the truck, which was being driven by Adam Jones.

When deputies walked to the passenger side of the truck where Watson was sitting, they noticed a plastic bag containing pills lying on the ground. One deputy picked up the bag and recognized the contents as prescription pain medication.

Watson was removed from the vehicle and while standing outside he told deputies he had thrown another bag of pills on the ground. Deputies found that bag after a brief search.

Jones, the driver, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for a marijuana pipe found in the seat of his vehicle. He was released after receiving a citation.

The prescription pills Watson had tried to throw away turned out to be Hydrocodone.

Watson, 27, of Sanford Street in Bailey, was charged with trafficking an opium derivative.
