Eight girls competing for title of Little Miss Pumpkin Queen

The 38th annual Pumpkin Festival, slated for Oct. 2-3 in downtown Spring Hope, officially kicks off with the annual Miss/Little Miss Pumpkin Queen Pageant on Sept. .26 at the Spring Hope Elementary School.

The pageant starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door.

This year's theme is "Super Pageant VVVIII." Reigning Miss Pumpkin Queen Marcy Baker and Little Miss Pumpkin Queen Destiny Ayscue will crown their successors.

Eight little girls in the Spring Hope school district, ages 4-6, are competing for the Little Miss Pumpkin Queen title.The young contestants and their sponsors are:

Haylynn Sparks, daughter of Sam and Michelle Sparks, sponsored by RBC Bank.

Rachel Perry, daughter of Joey and Lori Perry, sponsored by grandparents, Dewey and Anne Pitts and Rudy and Pat Perry.

Alayla Mercedes Jenkins, daughter of Nathaniel and Wanda Jenkins, sponsored by Wards Tires & Rims.

Brooke Nichole Lucas, daughter of Jesse and Paula Lucas, sponsored by Lucas' Barber Shop, Russell and Patricia Deans, and her parents.

Laurel Coffey, daughter of RC and heather Coffey, sponsored by her parents.

Victoria Dare Cool, daughter of Dustin and Heather Murray, sponsored by Papaw and Granna Murray.

Ashlyn Paige Wynn, daughter of Dirk and Melanie Wynn, sponsored by her family, Dan and Diane Price, Kirby and Sandra Wynne, and her parents.

Samantha Puckett, daughter of Anthony and Deborah Puckett, sponsored by Manning General Merchandise.

The Miss Pumpkin Queen contestants will be announced in next week's Enterprise.

Both the pageant and the Pumpkin Festival are sponsored by the Spring Hope Area Chamber of Commerce.
