Editor, the Journal

I greeted the news of Adage's pulling its proposed biomass facility out of Mason County with joy and I wish to sincerely thank everyone, those who wrote editorials, letter to editors and e-mails ttfState officials, plus all of those who attended the public sessions and expressed their opinions to county officials, for speaking up against this facility being built in our county. Although Adage claims that the decision to pull out was purely due to a lack of demand for the plant's output, I see this pull-out as proof of what can be accomplished when citizens band together and make their voices heard.

I am glad that Commissioner Dobson feels he and fellow port commissioners protected economic interests well with their lease agreement with Adage. We can only hope that, in the future, our port, county and city commissioners will deem it more important to protect the health and safety of the county citizens and honestly represent us in support of the kind of environment in which we want to live and raise our families.
