For over twenty years, the Shelton Kiwanis has provided educational scholarships to students in their service area. This year, the Shelton Kiwanis Foundation will be adding a very special new scholarship, the Dell Abelein Endowment Fund. This scholarship will be self-financing and will go exclusively to those working towards a career in education. The scholarship is named in memoriam of Dell Abelein, a 20-year member of Shelton Kiwanis as well as a teacher who served our community for 30 years. After his passing on November 30, 2010, the Shelton Kiwanis was surprised to learn that he had left a substantial endowment to serve as a source for educational scholarships.

Therefore, the Shelton Kiwanis is proud to announce the first Dell Abelein Endowment Scholarships. Brianna Barkley and Devin Marie Eliason will be the very first $1,000 Abelein Scholarships. Additionally, the Shelton Kiwanis Foundation will be awarding four $1,000 scholarships to Megan K. Brennan, Haley Field, Jessica Foster and Kathryn Meyers.
