A Mason County Superior Court jury returned a not-guilty verdict in the trial of a man also accused of threatening a witness in another case.

Kirk Eugene McCorkle, 51, of 1016 Arthur Street, Aberdeen, was acquitted of harassment. He had also been charged with intimidating a witness. The jury was unable to reach a decision on the second charge.

McCorkle was residing at 120 East McKinley Street in Shelton at the time of the offense. Shelton police officers received a threats complaint on October 3, 2008 from Rae Marie Pippins and a female juvenile, who were potential witnesses in a pending rape case with his friend as the defendant. He allegedly made threatening statements toward the two and raised his hand as if to hit Pippins.

McCorkle is scheduled for trial during the jury term beginning October 27.
