Report indicates alcohol a factor

A 51-year-old Tahuya man was arrested for driving under the influence after a two-vehicle collision Tuesday night on State Route 3 in Belfair.

William J. Furne was driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup truck northbound near Belfair Elementary School when he struck a 2001 Ford Focus which turned left into the school, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

The Ford was driven by 32-year-old Jaimye R. Cor-drey of Port Orchard. She exhibited chest pains but refused treatment. Her passenger, Kaylee Parsons-Cordrey, 9, of Port Orchard, was transported to Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton with face and head lacerations.

Furne was taken to Harrison for back and neck pain.

The trooper report indicates the cause of the crash, reported at 9:35 p.m. on September 1, was Furne driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
