The Sedona Heritage Museum is now carrying Patty Parker's latest music compact disc "Southwestern Serenade."

The CD features Parker's light jazz rendition of the classic single "Sedona Serenade" along with eight other original songs written by herself and her husband, Frank Fara.

"My intention for 'Southwestern Serenade' was to create an album of songs of some of my favorite places such as Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Navajo Land," Parker stated in a press release. "I chose to arrange and sing the songs with a style befitting each song's topic and persona. I like to think of our songs as timeless as the subjects they portray."

While Fara grew up in Arizona and first visited Sedona in the mid-1950s, Parker fell in love with Sedona while touring with a musical group in college. After many shared pilgrimages to Sedona to enjoy its unique beauty, there arose a natural collaboration to create a signature song for the community. "Sedona Serenade" was the result of that labor of love.

Also from these trips sprang the couple's desire to give something back to Sedona and its people for all the wonderful times they've experienced here.

Thus, Parker and Fara became supporters of the Sedona Heritage Museum. They have since gifted usage of their original song "Sedona Serenade" to the museum, to the town of Sedona and to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, stated the release. It currently plays on the museum's Web site and the chamber's VisitSedona Web site.
