Turn off TV, shop at local businesses

Having been a merchant in Sedona for the past 11 months and a resident for 11 years, I would like to share some thoughts.

I believe if all Sedona and Village of Oak Creek businesses, real estate, medical, resort, restaurant owners and employees, along with a majority of residents, would consciously try to assist our economy by shopping in our local stores, eating in our local restaurants once or twice a week, trying some place new -- which I am doing and enjoying greatly -- instead of shopping online or supporting out-of-town big boxes, we would do ourselves much good:

Improving morale and outlook of owners, employees and customers, we would have a much more upbeat, enthusiastic, positive hometown. Stop watching negative cable news, go out and shop locally, spread some dollars and smiles around town. Get out on America's most beautiful road, and see what VOC has to offer. Village people, come Uptown, and West Sedona, let's support ourselves a little more. Sales tax runs our city, and smile, it's contagious.

Do good, feel good. Buy Sedona.
