Irene M. Wolgamott passed away Wednesday, Apr. 28, 2010, at the Hospice House Chaplaincy in Pasco. She had lived in Pasco since 2005. Irene and her late husband Gaylen came to the Coulee Dam area in 1969, where he worked on the dam. Later, they owned and operated G & I Excavation for many years. They enjoyed their winters in Arizona together. Irene was an outstanding wife, mother and homemaker. As a guest in her home, you were always warmly greeted and given special treatment; if you were fortunate enough to be there at meal time, you were treated to her wonderful culinary skills as well.

Irene was a long time member of the Ridge Riders Club. She enjoyed her horses and being a part of her children's competition of barrel racing and other rodeo activities. She enjoyed providing transportation in her 1969 convertible to special guests riding in the Colorama Parade. Irene shared her special seamstress talents by making many of the Colorama royalty outfits. She was also a talented quilter, giving many beautiful quilts to family members who will cherish them forever. Irene made and donated two quilts to the Coulee Medical Foundation for auction and raffle to benefit the building of the new hospital, a project near and dear to her heart. She was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Gaylen; son Kevin; daughter Genie; brother Nicholas Heintz; sister Cecelia Newby and one step-great-grandson. Survivors include three daughters: Tina Dickerson of Kenne-wick, Kathy (Tim) Pat-ton, Pasco; Teresa Dennis, Coulee Dam; son Barry Smith, stepson Gaylen (Lois) Chilton, Grand Coulee; two brothers: Juluis Heintz, Coulee Dam and Jerome Heintz, Grandview; two sisters, Rosie Frank, Grandview and Fran-cie Emsley, Cosmopolis, Wash. Irene is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her much.

A memorial will be held at Columbia Memorial Funeral Chapel in Pasco. May 21, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.
