Richard Raymond Gale

The Star of Grand Coulee, Washington

Richard Raymond Gale, 77, born June 1, 1932, in Wagner, S.D., to Lester and Mary (DeNoma) Gale passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at his home in Coulee Dam. Richard was an ironworker and rigger by trade. During his lifetime he worked on many dams and federal buildings starting out in South Dakota. His last dam was the addition of the third power plant in Grand Coulee. He was also known for his ability to custom build items from metal. He was involved for many years in the Grand Coulee Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite of Spokane, and El & atif Temple (Shriners) also of Spokane. Richard loved boating, skiing, and spending time in the metal shop in his garage. Predeceased by his loving wife Carol (Davis) Gale in 1984 and a brother Norman Gale, Richard is survived by his two daughters: Pamala Marrs "David"; Sally Wells "Darrell"; and one son: Wayne Gale "Vicki"; grandchildren: Brandon Marrs "Susan"; Jennifer DeGrande and William Gale; two greatgrandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Wallace, Lawrence and Dennis Gale; one sister, Lois Frances and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family suggests that donations be made in Richard's name to: Cancer Research Fund, Eastern Star Grand Chapter of WA, 615 N. Street S.E., Tumwater, WA 98501. At his request cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, is aiding Richard's family.
