Ethel Edna Bennett

The Star of Grand Coulee, Washington

Ethel Edna Bennett of Coulee Dam passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee.

She was born October 9,1926, to Otto and Ella (Shadie) Menge in Milwaukee, Wise.

She married M.L. "Benny" Bennett on April 15, 1955, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

She moved to the Coulee Dam area in 1955 from Spokane. She was a bartender at the Green Hut Cafe on her husband's days off and later they owned and operated the Coulee Dam Tavern.

She was an avid bowler and oh how she loved to dance, especially in 3" spike heels. She was a lifetime member of the Grand Coulee Lodge #504 Loyal Order of the Moose and the Alzekah Rebekah Lodge #325. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her four daughters: Bea & husband Jim Hill of Medical Lake, Nita & husband Greg Haag of Coulee Dam, Sandy Warnecke of Coulee Dam, and Debbie Toulou of Spokane; two sisters: Barbara Erdmann of Muskego, Wise, and Beatrice Menge of Washington D.C Three brothers: Clarence Menge of Racine, Wise, Arden Menge of Glendale, Wise, and Ollie Menge of Milwaukee, Wise; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister.

Cremation was held at the Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Coulee Dam Ambulance, c/o Coulee Dam City Hall, 300 Lincoln, Coulee Dam, WA 99116.
