Rupe did not file for his regular position before the deadline and later opted to wage a write-in campaign after encouragement from several citizens, he said.

Rupe took the race from Troy Ritter by just six votes, 130-124.

John Nordine II will take council postion 2 in January, having won 204-1 over current Councilmember Rick Morton.

Morton did not file his intentions with the elections office in time, but later started a write-in effort.
