The New Year's resolution of Superior resident Juanita Hernandez is more like a wish for everyone. "I want the year 2010 to get better," she said recently, responding to a Superior Sun survey about whether she had made a resolution or had a thought about 2010. "Right now it's bad; I know that, and right now I just want us to be better, to have everything, and work out the problems that we have and to enjoy life. That's all I care about."

Richard Hing of Save Money Market also had general improvement in the world on his mind. His resolution is "to see the economy improve with people getting their jobs back and not losing their houses. The second other part of my hope for this new decade has to do with world peace and in bringing our soldiers back home."

Heading for service with the U.S. Navy on May 11, Ruben Ybarra says that "I don't even think I have a New Year's resolution, maybe succeed in basic training."

More New Year's resolutions include those of:

Lynn Heglie, Superior Town Council Member and proprietor of the Red Rock Barber Shop: "To try and figure out this strange economy." Carlos M. Solis: "To try and visit family more, start attending church and be nicer to my sister." Sherry Tomerlin "To be a better friend."

Rob Woodliff, owner of Cafe Pie-dra Roja: "To turn on my 'OPEN' sign in a timely fashion." (He has been known on frequent occasion to not have the cafe sign on so it can be hard for prospective customers to know when he's open.) April Lira: "I don't know. I never make them because I never keep them."

Nomas Celaya: "Try new things." Helen Townsend: "Mine is to be a better person."

Christy Hayes: "Just to keep working with the town of Superior." (She also will continue to volunteer with an organization out of Apache Junction as well.) "We work in soup kitchens, veterinary clinics and nursing homes. And, I also intend to keep praying for the economy."

Pat Richards: "I just want to resolve to be a kinder, better person." James Carnes, Superior Sun publisher: "Try to concentrate more on the important things in life such as God, family and others." Cindy Tracy, Superior Sun editor: "Be more patient and forgiving with people and continue to believe that 2010 will be the best year ever for all of us."

Dennis Van Gorp, Superior Sun office circulation: "Have a healthy lifestyle and lose some weight." Twila Hernandez, Superior Sun intern: "Graduate high school." ~ Compiled by Cindy Tracy, Happy New Year!
