All told, there are 284 signatures on three recall petitions circulated and filed at Superior Town Hall on Jan. 13.

There were, of course, fewer signatories actually involved as a number of people signed more than one petition.

Green, on behalf of the Superior Recall Committee 2009, filed "application for recall petition" documents with the town clerk on Oct. 28.

The recalls being demanded in October were those of Superior Mayor Michael 0. Hing, "Council Member" Olga Lopez, who is also the vice mayor, Council Member Soyla Peralta and Council Member Lynn C. Heglie,

The three signed petitions returned to Town Hall on Jan. 13 are for Hing, Lopez and Peralta. It was not known at press time if or when a petition for Heglie would be filed. Grounds for the demand for recall on the petitions are "Malfeasance in management of the Town's finances, mismanagement of public funds, open meeting law violations, noncompliance with Alternate Expenditure Limitation and State Election Laws; noncompliance with personnel policy and procedures in hiring, disciplining and terminating public employees; budget planning, preparation and presentation deficiencies; and council meeting attendance."

Number of signatures returned for Hing are 96, for Lopez 90 and for Peralta 98. Staff members at Town Hall were not able last week to provide the exact numbers that would be needed for a recall election to take place.

The usual procedure for the next step in the process is for recall petitions to be forwarded to the county recorder's office for verification of signatures, according to Public Safety Director/Police Chief Lou Digirolamo. He is currently assisting with administrative duties at Town Hall.
