Superior Unified School District voters by a somewh at narrow margin put their stamp of approval March 9 on a 15 percent override over the district's M&O revenue control budgetary limit.

A total of 325 ballots were cast in the override election. This represents 16.15 percent of the 2013 registered voters in the district/'Yes" votes totaled 185 or 56.92 percent of votes cast and "no" totaled 140 or 43.08 of votes cast.

The 15 percent override passed is a continuation and increase of the previous 10 percent override. It will be in effect seven years. The increase would be funded from a property tax levy.

A sign last week outside Kennedy Elementary School expressed appreciation to the community for the vote that will provide funding for programs that benefit children.

Superior School Superintendent/Principal Pete Guzman voiced similar gratitude, "1 really am very grateful that the community passed the override during these difficult economic times," he said. "The people of Superior have shown time and time again that when overrides and anything having to do with their children are needed, they will make every effort to support them."
