Glen David Layne February 16, 1915 - June 26, 2010

Glen David Layne, 95, passed away June 26, 2010.

Glen was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to General Harrison and Bertha Layne February 16, 1915 one of 11 siblings. He is survived by two brothers and one sister.

Glen enlisted in the military service January 21, 1941. He was authorized to wear the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and American Defense Ribbon.

He married Thelma McConnell, March 21, 1944 in Battle Creek Michigan. He is survived by his spouse and two children, Sam Layne (Janice), Suze Stevenson (Daniel) and two grandsons, Austin Stevenson (Tauni) and Ethan Stevenson.

His happiest years were spent in Superior where he enjoyed exploring the mountains and deserts, restoring small adobe houses, collecting mining memorabilia, making many friends and being a devoted grandfather. Glen however found the most notable pleasure from endeavoring to be an active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses faith since 1954. His life experiences had motivated him to search for and treasure the promises contained within the Bible that soon all war, sickness, old age and death would be removed from this earth forever. The strength, peace of mind and comfort this knowledge afforded him enabled him to pass on peacefully with a stoic conviction that when he awakens again it will be in a cleansed, peaceful, paradise earth.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 639 Hill Street. Following the services will be a catered dinner. In behalf of Glen, a warm invitation is extended to any and all of his friends.
