Volleyball coach pleased with overall teamwork this season

From Miami Vandal to Superior Panther, Veronica Yeoman is now the Junior Varsity volleyball coach for Superior High School.

When she first arrived at Superior High School, Yeoman was timid because of so many new faces, but she soon grew away from that fear as she met the welcoming student-athletes of Superior. She has grown to admire the ambitious young ladies and believes the team will develop into fine young athletes.

According to Varsity Coach Cheryl Lopez, Yeoman is the answer to her prayers because of her experience and knowledge of the game. So far, Junior Varsity has defeated its opponents, Chandler Prep and Hayden. The team is off to a great start.

The Varsity volleyball team, however, has not been as successful to date but the team is not discouraged. They plan on having more intense workouts, drills and plays to build mental toughness and consistency to rise to their optimum potential.

Going back to 1A division has brought hopes to Coach Lopez for the team to improve from last year's season. "It's tough to say how our season will go because it's a whole new level of competition,".she said, "but I'm excited to see the girls grow as a team."

The roster for the Volleyball team includes in Junior Varsity Karen Castro, Gabby Don-lin, Christine Grap, Adrienne Hernandez, Mariah Hernandez, Dominique Madueno, Lorena Medrano, Aliya Perez, Leandrea Rivera, Yulissa Sandoval and Korteney Urquijo; and, in Varsity Andrea Betancourt, Ana Campos, Jessica Castro, Morgan Flanagan, Ruby Griego, Marisa Hernandez, Twila Hernandez, Lorrae Jimenez, Destiny Magallanez, Nicole Montoya, Kiara Moreno, Monica Ochoa, Janae Perez, Samantha Valdez, Marissa Vidal. Managers are Angelica Villegas and Jessica Fraijo and coaches are Cheryl Lopez and Veronica Yeoman.
