Peter G. Delgado, 84, of Superior, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, in Queen Creek. He was born Feb. 11, 1925 in Superior, to Pedro and Luisa Gutierrez Delgado. A lifetime resident of Superior, he had worked for Magma Copper Company for 35 years before retiring. He had been a member of the United Steel Workers Union. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. As a native Arizonan, he loved the desert. A loving husband and father, he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Lucia Delgado, of Superior; his children, Sylvia (Bob) Barrett of Queen Creek, Cecilia Lopez of Superior, Alfonso (Lydia) Delgado of Superior and John Delgado of Superior; his brother, Moises Delgado of Superior; his sister, Otilia Castro of Santa Ana, California; eight grandsons, Alejandro Montgomery, Richard Montgomery, Adrian Lopez, Alfonso Delgado Jr., Johnny Delgado, Ruben Delgado, Dominic Delgado, Rico Lopez; granddaughter, Janice Barrett; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation and wake service will be held Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, from 7-9 p.m., at Superior Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m., at the Community Church, 100 North Magma Avenue in Superior. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
