Margaret Wooding Whitney was born October 4, 1925 in Bedfordshire, England and passed away in Bend, Oregon, August 1, 2009. She was married to "Bun" Whitney on June 6, 1944. He was stationed nearby during World War II and had ridden his bicycle from camp six miles to visit his girl friend every chance he could.
Bun was sent home after the war, but had to wait eleven months before Margaret and son Mike could join him. They later had a daughter Linda.
They lived in or near Halsey for many years before moving to Bend two years ago.
A memorial service was held for her August 6 at Aspen Ridge Retirement Center.
She is survived by husband Bun, son Mike and family who live in Bend, and daughter Linda and family who live in Christmas Valley, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
