CopyMarvin Ashwill of rural Dassel, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in Quartzsite, Ariz., with his family present. He was 92.
A memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Lloyd Melvie will officiate. A private interment will be held.
Marvin L. Ashwill was born Feb. 4, 1917, in Sanborn, Iowa to Don Eli and Aina (Byttynen) Ashwill.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Bernice Smith, Clarence Ashwill, Harriet Smith, Leonard Ashwill, and Richard Ashwill; half-brother Orville Lenox; and daughters-in-law Jean Ashwill (spouse of Darrell) and Susan Ashwill (spouse of Dennis).
He is survived by his loving wife Doris I. Ashwill; sons Darrell Ashwill of Dassel and Dennis (and Rosa) Ashwill of Plankinton, S.D.; grandchildren Jason (and Christine) Ashwill of St. Cloud and Meredith (and Tom) Lyon of St. Joseph; great-grandchildren: Michael Ashwill, Danielle Lyon and Chase Lyon. Marvin is further survived by his half-sister, Pearl Zopfi of Blaine, and many nieces and nephews.
