Luella Lou Klein, 81

Luella "Lou" Klein of Watkins died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. She was 81.

Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Rev. John Brunner and Rev. Richard Gross officiating. Interment was in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Luella "Lou" Klein was born March 27, 1929, to Ervin and Adeline (Looman) Stelton in Kimball. She married Clarence Klein Sept. 10, 1949, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Kimball. They lived in Watkins where they owned and operated K & K Liquors for 25 years. Lou also worked at Mueller Mink Farm, Green Giant, Eden Valley Bakery, and Animal Fair. She was a member of St. Athony Catholic Church, the Watkins Senior Citizens and the Watkins and Eden Valley Legion Auxiliaries. Her hobbies included bowling, playing cards, and cooking. Lou especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence in 2005; brother Ervin Stelton Jr.; and brother-in-law Lyle Jensen.

She is survived by her children Doug (and Joan) Klein of Eden Valley, Gary (and Arlis) Klein of Kimball, Mike Klein of Watkins; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Joan (and Doug) Janish of Kimball, and Luvern Jensen of Albert Lea.

Music was by Kathy Pauls. Casket bearers were Danielle Thielen, Amy Klein, Breanne Klein, Courtney Klein, Christine Klein, Brooke Klein, Brittany Klein, and Kaylee Petty. Arrangements were by the Ertl Funeral Home.
