Dona Mae Schreiner, 79

Dona Mae Schreiner of Watkins died Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Assumption Home in Cold Spring. She was 79.

Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Church of God in Eden Valley with Pastor Daniel Smead officiating. Friends called one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Interment was in the Old Eden Lake Cemetery.

Dona Mae Schreiner was born March 14, 1931, in Montrose to John and Mabel (Bernick) Louisiana. Dona was united in marriage July 6, 1952, to Clifton Mills at the Methodist Church in Litchfield. Clifton died in 1964. Dec. 26, 1966, Dona was united in marriage to Kenneth Schreiner at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Kenneth died May 7, 1996.

Dona owned and operated the Chalet Restaurant in Eden Valley for many years. She was a member of the Wat-Kim-Valley VFW Auxiliary Post 5460, and she served two terms as district president. She also was a member of the RSVP, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, and playing cards.

Dona was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands Clifton Mills and Kenneth Schreiner.

She is survived by children Roxann (and Jeff) Siedchlag of Hutchinson, and Randy Mills of Eden Valley; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Jim (and Joann) Louisiana of Richfield, and Harold "Butch" (and Karen) Louisiana of New Prague; nieces and nephews.
