CopyCraig VanNurden of Kimball died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at the St. Cloud Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was 54.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. Richard Gross officiating. Visitation was Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 9-10 a.m., both at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Parish prayers were 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment was in the Kimball Cemetery.
Craig A. VanNurden was born to Clayton and Louise (Donnay) VanNurden Oct. 22, 1955, in St. Cloud. He farmed all of his life on the family farm, and was employed by Arnold's of Kimball for 20 years and Electrolux in St. Cloud for 16 years. Craig was united in marriage to Gayle Mackereth Aug. 16, 1975, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball. Family, farming and animals were very important to Craig. His hobbies included hunting and gardening, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Tonya; and brother Richard.
He is survived by his wife Gayle VanNurden of Kimball; children Tracy (and Paul) Hanan, Travis (and Kristin) VanNurden, Tara (and Justin) Adolph, Tiffany (and
Kelly) Danelke, Jr., all of Kimball; his dog Izzy; brothers and sisters Roger VanNurden of Watkins, James C. (and Diane) VanNurden of Stewart, Dale N. VanNurden of Rockford, Mary Lou (and Bob) Mobley of Buffalo, David VanNurden of Columbia, Mo., Jean (and John) Brager of Buffalo, Edwin VanNurden of Kimball, Cheryl (and Joe) Garding of Kimball, Michelle (and Tim) Kuhn of Kimball, Lori (and Glenn) Winter of Luxemburg; nieces and nephews. Music was by Mary Streit and the church choir. Casket bearers were Travis VanNurden, Paul Hanan, Justin Adolph, Kelly "Boomer" Denelke, Jr., Dale VanNurden, and Steve "Shorty" Nis-tler. Arrangements were by the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
