St. Cloud State named Military Friendly School

CopyG.I. Jobs magazine has recognized St. Cloud State University's support of veterans with a Military Friendly School designation.
The G.I. Jobs Military Friendly List honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students. Honorees were chosen after a survey of 7,000 institutions regarding their efforts to recruit and support veterans, including on-campus programs and academic credit for service.
St. Cloud State has more than 525 student veterans, the largest student veteran population among the 32 schools in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system. They and their families have access to a new Veterans Resource Center for mentoring, advice and help with benefits and other paperwork.
"Our student veterans bring important assets to our campus community," said St. Cloud State President Earl H. Potter III, who was instrumental in increasing support for student veterans. "They come to us as leaders, with confidence and maturity. We're fortunate to have them."
"This list is especially important now because the recently enacted Post-9/11 G.I. Bill has given veterans virtually unlimited financial means to go to school," said Rich McCormack, G.I. Jobs publisher. "Veterans need a trusted friend to help them decide where to continue their education. A Military Friendly School is that trusted friend."
