Head Start accepting applications

The Tuskegee-Macon County Head Start Program is now accepting application for the 2010-2011 school year for all centers and for the PRE-K located in the Notasulga and Benson Avenue Centers.

Head Start is a pre-school child and family development program that emphasizes the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of a child.

The Office of School Readiness (OSR) develops pre-kindergarten programs that help four-year-old children prepare for a life of learning.

There are six Head Start Centers in Macon County: American Legion (Tuskegee Area); Benson Avenue (Tuskegee Area); D.C. Wolfe (Shorter Area); Faces of the Future (Tuskegee Area); Lewis Adams (Tuskegee Area); and Notasulga (Notasulga Area).

There are 36 Pre-K slots available at Notasulga Center and Benson Avenue Center.

Children must be three years old by September 1 or four years old to be accepted into Head Start. Children must be four years old to be accepted into the Pre-K classrooms.
