Macon County Commission Chair Louis Maxwell has been elected to serve as a member of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama's Legislative Committee.

The Association's Legislative Committee is composed of a chairman, the Association's past presidents still serving in county government and a representative from each of ACCA's 12 districts. The Legislative Committee works in concert with six steering committees to formulate the Association's legislative agenda for the upcoming year.

Maxwell represents ACCA District 8, which includes Bullock, Chambers, Clay, Coosa, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Russell and Tallapoosa Counties.

Lee County Commissioner Johnny Lawrence was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama, a statewide association representing Alabama's county governments. Lawrence represents District 8.

"The majority of the members of the Legislative Committee and the steering committees are appointed and serve as volunteers," said ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield. "These volunteers range from elected officials to commission staff such as county administrators, engineers, 9-1-1 directors, EMA directors and revenue officers. They log a lot of hours on these committees in order to help the Association put together the best possible plan to protect county resources and put our best foot forward during the upcoming legislative session."
