The Black Belt Community Foundation Board of Directors held its Sixth Annual Retreat November 1-2 at Auburn University.

Among the actions taken was the election of two new Board members-Ms. Wynn Adams Collins of Tuskegee and Mike Reynolds of Selma.

Collins, a long-time resident of Macon County, is a graduate of Notasulga High School. She served in the United States Army as a member of the Military Police and returned to serve as a member of the Tuskegee Police Department. Collins is active in several local community organizations, including Faith Rescue Mission and Joy Makers Senior Citizens Group.

Reynolds is a native of Selma and an active local business owner, involved in both radio and real estate. He is involved in many civic organizations, advocating for mental health, tourism, and economic development, Reynolds was named Alabama Broadcaster of the Year in 2007 and was inducted into the Alabama Broadcaster Hall of Fame in 2008.

"Wynn and Mike are excellent additions to our Board of Directors and will contribute to 'the diversity to which our board is committed. Their experiences in the Black Belt and significant involvement in the civic life of their respective counties continues our tradition of encouraging honest conversation around the transformational opportunities in the region," shares George McMillan Jr., president of the Black Belt Community Foundation Board of Directors.

Collins and Mr. Reynolds join 22 other board members from around the Black Belt of Alabama on the Foundation's Board. The Black Belt Community Foundation was founded in 2004 with the idea that those living and working in the Black Belt best know the area's challenges and opportunities.

The Foundation is working to transform the Black Belt into a place where all residents contribute to healthy communities and a productive regional economy and, as a result, collectively reap the benefits of shared gifts.

Since 2005, the Black Belt Community Foundation has invested over $1.2 million in the Black Belt region of Alabama.
