Happy Thanksgiving. I quite agree with Mr. Ben Ashby's Centertown news last week, in that we no longer give Thanksgiving its due. His analogy of stuffing the turkey with candy canes and tinsel was well-taken and true for many of us. By the time this reaches your Thanksgiving table, many thoughts will have already been turned toward Christmas preparations. I will admit that I have already clipped a small sprig of holly with its cherry red berries and have it hidden in my purse. However, Thanksgiving will never be ignored, and the colors of autumn will not be replaced with the red and greens of Christmas until after the pause for Thanksgiving. I would love to hear how you celebrated this special day.

Moving now to matters pertaining a society column, the last birthday that is reported for the month of November is of a wonderful lady indeed. Mrs. Willa Helen Mooreman will celebrate the special day of her birth on Nov. 29. Please make a point to wish her a happy one. Among her many accomplishments, Mrs. Mooreman is a retired art teacher and a treasure to the community of Fordsville. If you wish to send her special greeting, if I am quite certain is you send it to her in care of the Fordsville office, she will receive it, such a loved lady is this.

Another special birthday to take "note" of is for Mr. Floyd Stewart on Nov. 25. As most of you are aware, Mr. Stewart is a most talented musician and one to which our area delights in being able to hear at many musical events in cities which include both Fordsville and Rosine. He and his equally talented wife are always welcomed in Fordsville. It is our turn now to sing for Floyd!

A belated happy birthday is sent to Mr. Jeff Herrell, who celebrated on Nov. 11.

On Monday, Dec. 7, the regular Fordsville, Magan, and Dundee meeting of the C.E.R.T. Luck is always served well at these occasions. The scheduled program will include continued information on first aid, particularly in bandaging wounds.

The monthly meeting of the Fordsville Historical Society will be held at the L&N Depot Museum meeting room on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m. A new president should be elected on or before the January meeting. Members are urged to attend.

As this time approaches in many organizations, please let me know the names of your newly elected officers, that I may be certain to use the correct information

Thursday, Dec. 3, the "Christ Among Us" Food Pantry Board will meet at the L&N Depot Museum meeting room at 9 a.m. What better way to show thankfulness than to volunteer help in this organization? Please call President Ms. Shannon Wilson at 276-9556, or Mr. Martin Frakes at 276-5102 for information.

The senior "lunch bunch" is reminded that the special November birthday celebration lunch will be held this Monday, Nov. 30. Come and share in the birthday serenading and the consuming of the delicious birthday cake. The suggested donation for meals is $1.50 for any one 60 years of age or over. The total cost of each meal is $4.14. Any one under the age of 60 who is not a spouse or dependant of a participant pays the full amount and is served after all participants receive their meals according to the number present. Donations help provide additional meals at each congregate site and are greatly appreciated. All are welcome to attend, which includes performing musicians.

At the Nov. 20 lunch gathering, Ms. Jenny Small, physical therapist, gave a most interesting program on ways to avoid falls and demonstrated exercises to strengthen muscles.

I gave the Fordsville volunteer firemen quite a start in my misunderstood date of the Christmas night of Randall Basham & Friends. I reported wrongly this to be on Dec. 5, which is in fact the date of the Christmas dinner of the Fordsville Fire Dept. They rang the bell of Ms. Joan Edge who schedules the Community Center occasions upon reading this, thinking they had been "sold out." Sorry, my mistake and not Joan's. Let me hose down my mistake by stating that the Fordsville Fire Station Christmas party is safely scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, at the J&J Edge Center.

The Randall Basham & Friends Christmas party at the same location is scheduled BUT for the night of Saturday, Dec. 12, beginning at 6:15 p.m.

You may all feel free to throw pies at me on these occasions, preferably lemon.

On Nov. 14, members of the graduating Fordsville High School class of 1954 held their 55th reunion at the lovely Owensboro home of Mrs. Markley Midkiff Freer. Mrs. Freer's late husband was Mr. Ralph Freer, who was the brother of Mr. Wendell Freer of Fordsville. Mrs., Freer served a variety of delicious soups, sandwiches and desserts. Entertainment was provided by Ms. Emily Wills. Emily is the niece of Markley and the daughter of Drs. Steven and Teresa Wills, DMV at Wills Animal Hospital. Emily played both the piano and violin for everyone, much to their delight and enjoyment. She is a member of the bluegrass band named "Blackberry Jam."

There were 24 graduating members. Of these nine were present along with other students who attended FHS. Five members have died. Including spouses, a total of 15 attended: Markley Midkiff Freer, Shirley Richards Boswell, Kathryn Rusher Boling, Kathryn Craig Spencer, Barbara Matthews Richards, Mary Jean Greer Grief, Doris Rogers Kirk and husband, Billy Rhoades and wife, Thurman Turner and wife, Louise Richards Hatfield and Gail Maddox and wife. Thanks to Mrs. Kirk for sharing a wonderful visit ? and a cup of coffee while relating this special occasion.

Santa Claus will be waiting.after the parade at what is usually referred to as the "Gazebo" at the L&N Depot Museum, but this is actually the old Bell Tower from the Fordsville Baptist Church. Anyone wishing to present Santa their petitions for consideration on that "naughty or nice" list may do so at that time. The Depot Museum will open at time where hot Cider will be served by members of the Fordsville Historical Society Volunteers.

On Monday, Nov. 16, a group of AARP members representing various regions in Kentucky traveled to Frankfort, Ky., to the state capitol building. The objective was in pursuit of protection for community-based aging services from more budget cuts. Representatives and senators gave updates on issues. Attending from the Fordsville area were Ms. Mary Elizabeth Young, Fordsville Mayor Wilda Hardesty and City board member Joan Edge and Mrs. Jane Helm. Before returning, the group enjoyed a luncheon at O'Charley's restaurant. Thanks to Mrs. Jane Helm for this information.
