Council Grove FFA has success at East Central District Selection Day

The East Central District Selection day was March 6th at Mission Valley and Council Grove FFA had a successful day. Council Grove took 11 proficiency awards, 11 State Farmer Degrees and 3 District officer candidates which were Sarah Lewis, Raena Cano, and Tyler Jensen. There were 22 students running for 6 spots and 10 were slated today and Tyler Jensen was (one of the ten. He will have to prepare a 2 minute speech and present this at district banquet on April 7th and hopefully beat out the other person he is slated against

We had 10 of our 11 proficiency awards declared winners in their category and the winners were as follows: Tyler Glessner, "Ag Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship"; Jerry Glessner - Ag Repair and Maintenance Placement; Matt Hirschi - Wildlife Management; Jessie Zimmerman - Forage Production; Jeri Sigle - Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management; Sarah Lewis - Beef Production Entrepreneurship; Bethany Bacon - Beef Production Placement; Jamie Ross - Equine Science; Bracey Lerner - Turf Grass Management; and Kristin Glick - Ag Sales Placement. These students applications will go on to state judging March 20th and if they are declared the state winner, they will be award $250 and a chance to go on land compete at Nationals next October.

Our state farmer degree winners were as follows: Tyler Glessner, Jerry Glessner, Taylor Kraus, Matt Hirschi, Jamie Ross, Bracey Lerner, Chase Olsen and Tyler Keplar.
