ALTA VISTA-Alta Vista now has recycling drop-off bins located at 409 E. Center St. behind the old Mobil station. The bins are being provided by the Morris County Recycling Center, in agreement with Wabaunsee County Solid Waste. Wabaunsee County has been coming to town once a month to pick up recycling but this will be more convenient to be able to take items at any time.

Recyclable items that are accepted by Morris County Recycling are: newspaper, magazines and phone books, aluminum (they buy aluminum cans), tin cans, white paper, office mix (colored paper), #1 Pete plastic (clear), #2 HDPE (milk jugs), #2 colored plastic, film plastic (grocery bags), cardboard. They also will take electronics, waste motor oil, scrap metal, batteries, and scrap aluminum at the transfer station located 1 1/2 miles east of Council Grove.

Items not accepted are: styrofoam, kleenex, rubber gloves (surgical gloves), packing peanuts, paper plates, waxed milk or orange cartons, glass.
