Norman Lee ("Limpy") Erikson passed away April 6, 2010 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri.

Norm was born June 22, 1926 in Manhattan, son of John T. and Theressa (Ek) Erikson. He graduated from high school in Dwight, Kansas, where he played football and basketball.

On June 2, 1951 in Kansas City, he married his beloved Barbara June Eggleson. In Dwight, he operated a feed store, crop sprayer and pig farm and served as sheriff. Health issues and entrepreneurial pursuits in insurance and real estate investment led them to move from Dwight to Overland Park in 1960 and to Kansas City, Missouri in 1985.

Norman's greatest joy was always his family. He delighted in their Swedish heritage and took pleasure in every day of life. He earned his Masonic 50 year pin, and sponsored many new members of AA after becoming faithfully committed himself in 1980. He was an avid reader, Sunday school teacher, gardener and sports fan.

Norman was predeceased by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; his children, Lynn and Lucia, and their spouses Debbie and Duncan; grandchildren, Katie Tessier and her husband Matt, Davin Erikson and his wife Katie, and Kiara and Duncan "Lee" Kincheloe, and four great grandchildren, Anders Erikson, Lilly Tessier and two on the way. He is also survived by his cherished brother and sisters, Keith Erikson of Stanardsville, Virginia, Twila Alvarez of Overland Park, Kansas and Sharon Haun of Council Grove, Kansas, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.

Memorial service was held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Newcomer's Longview Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri.

Memorial contributions honoring the life of Norman Erikson may be made to Recovery Plus AA Group, 9309 E. 65th St., Raytown, MO 64133.
